Information for Parents
Welcome to the Clinton Baseball Association (CBA) page. We wanted to share some helpful information for you, the parent.
CBA plays at Traceway Park in Clinton, Mississippi
We have two different programs, our traditional baseball program and our Reds travel baseball program. Our Reds program starts at 8U and fields teams for each age through 14u. The team is picked after tryouts and if there is enough interest, there can be two teams in one age group. Reds plays in local tournaments in both the fall and spring and are affiliated with CBA and have access to practice fields. Reds players also play in our traditional spring baseball program. The Reds program is great for the kids who want extra baseball and opportunities to play competitively. Tryouts are held each year in June and July.
We also have our traditional baseball program that has two different seasons, Spring and Fall Jelly League. The divisions for our spring league are setup in the following age groups:
- 4 Year Old Tee Ball
- 5-6 Year Old Coach Pitch
- 7-8 Year Old Coach Pitch
- 9-10 Year Old Kid Pitch
- 11-12 Year Old Kid Pitch
- 13-15 Year Old Kid Pitch
Fall Jelly league is either Coach Pitch or Machine Pitch. The age groups are determined by registration numbers.
All ages are determined by your child's age on April 30.
Registration for Spring baseball starts in January, evaluations are mid February, teams begin Practice in March and games begin around the beginning of April.
Registration for Fall Jelly league starts in July, teams and games start in September and run through the end of October.
The league provides a jersey and hat. You are responsible for glove, pants (typically gray but the coach determines this), belt, cleats (molded, no metal), bat and while not required, most kids prefer their own helmet.
To the left there are some useful links to help select the right glove and the right bat. You can always ask your coach as well.
Game times will either be at 6:00 or 7:15. We do not know which days of the week until the schedule is made. We try to have 2 game per week at most and occasionally 3 if makeups are being done.
Practice times will be set by your coach. Each team will have a weekday practice and a weekend practice. Once games start, weekday practices will stop and additional practices are at the discretion of the coach.
Most of our coaches use the GroupMe app to get information to the team. Please download the app and make sure you have your correct phone number listed in the registration system. Please remember our coaches have full time jobs and many coach multiple teams. They might not be able to answer you right away but will try their best to respond.
We hope your child has fun and learns to love the game of baseball.
